Today I would like to focus my post on the amazing group of Nursing Students that make this clinic tick. All are 4th year nursing students from the Salvation Army Nursing School. Their schooling has prepared them from the clinical perspective and now we can see their skills put to good use as they interview the patients. Many of students had parents who requested they attend nursing school, others knew from an early age that nursing was a true calling. Though most of the students I spoke with did not have  relatives in the medical field, they all came in to the field with the desire to go out in the world and provide compassion to those in need. Their professionalism and willingness to learn has been so evident throughout each clinic. When Dr. Kepes is looking for someone to assist with data collection from the many patient charts, the students are very quick to volunteer. In addition to their nursing skills, several are able to translate for us which has been a huge plus!  As in the states, job opportunities are quite good in Southern India upon their graduation this fall.
