church

Every time I go to Nagercoil I go to mass with the Sisters. This one started at 5:30 am as we had to get to our eighth and final camp. We usually go to the “late” mass at 7:30 am so we can sleep in ?. At the 5:30 am mass there are less people (more came later).
The service is in Tamil, and I asked Sr. Atmaja what the sermon was about. The priest said there are many symbols of different religions that people wear. But it doesn’t matter what you have on your person; it is how you live your life. A man came up to a priest and asked, “Father, I don’t drink, I don’t smoke, I don’t run around with women, I don’t miss mass, etcetera. Will I go to heaven?” The priest answered, “You have as much chance of going to heaven as that wooden chair over there,” he pointed. “It is not what you don’t do with your life, but what you do in this life for others.” Amen.
